Lacey Does Book Reviews

About the site: This is the Tumblr Website where I will post my audio, video, and written reviews of books. Suggestions and comments are always welcome, just click the link below!

About me: My name is Lacey, I work part time and attend school full time at San Jose State University in sunny California. In my spare time I read, draw and smother my cat with (most likely unwanted) affection. If there's anything else you'd like to know, ask below

Comments and Suggestions

ieatyouruterus asked: Forget everything I recommended before! READ THE HUNGER GAMES!
I just started it last night, finished it today. Nearly 400 pages, but that freaking good. It's the first in a series of 3 books.

I saw someone else reading it the other day and was interested. I knew I’d heard of it before, I’ll give it a read as soon as possible. Almost done reading the first book, review comin up soon

speakingofhats asked: Lacey, This is beautiful. I look forward to video reviews. I will definitely keep up with this. maybe even suggest some books in the future.

Thank you for your lovely message! The motivation is highly appreciated

prowess asked: You should still be allowed to check stuff out as long as you don't owe $10 or more. I have $8 in fees that I never pay and continue to check out, however if my fines go over I would need to pay

That’s weird… I’ll check it out this weekend when I’ve got some free time. Thanks Megalo

ieatyouruterus asked: Coraline was a good novella. Have you read any Neil Gaiman? American Gods by him is pretty good too. :]

Is Coraline an illustrated story? I’ll see if I can check it out from the library once school starts (probably San Jose library. The one in Fremont charged me something stupid like 4 bucks in late fees back in high school which I paid, but when I went to check a book out a year or two later, they said I had never paid it. I don’t know how long they keep track of that though so maybe I can get a new library card now that it’s been a few years. I’ll see if I can pick it up in Fremont, if not I’ll hit up San Jose). I’ve never read anything by Neil Gaiman, I’ll look him up as well. Thanks!

I am always open to criticism and suggestions, thanks! Also please be so kind as to overlook my misuse of the word prolific, I don’t know what I was thinking…maybe profound? I didn’t catch it until I had already uploaded the file haha

emwrites asked: hey, I left a message in your personal blog. Not sure which one you're on so I'll leave you a message on this one as well. I'm just wondering if you could do a book review on my new book? Check out the trailer on my blog if you're unsure or whatever, but I will supply you a free copy of it if you agree to review it :)
hope you're having a good day :)
take care

I never expected writers themselves to request reviews, what a surprise! Just to let you know I am not a professional reviewer - I am only doing this as hobby. I can’t promise that I will like all the books that I review, but if you’re okay with that then yes! I’ll review your book gladly. If I may ask, are there any authors that have influenced your writing style? I’m just curious. Thanks for dropping by!

ieatyouruterus asked: Have you read Paper Towns or Looking for Alaska? (coming of age stories... sort of)

I have never read Paper Towns, but I read Looking for Alaska in high school, and An Abundance of Katherines more recently (both by John Green, I believe.) I really like his writing style, so great suggestions! I’ll put Paper Towns on the list. As far as which book I’m going to review first I’m not sure yet. I’ll keep you posted

Introduction

Hello! Welcome to the Tumblr page dedicated to my book reviews. I am an avid reader of many genres, my favorites being fantasy, period pieces and, according to my boyfriend, “coming of age stories.” I am going to attempt to review at least one book per two weeks (dependent upon length, of course.) Right now I don’t really have any specific books in mind, so I am welcome to suggestions in my Comments and Suggestions box to the right. If there are any superb books that you think I would love, send them my way! Of course, don’t let that keep you from sending me absolutely horrible suggestions as well. Just be sure to let me know which of the two categories under which your suggestion falls. Keep in mind I don’t hold back with my criticism and I hate books with little to no character development. I also review short stories and independently published or non-published works. Cheers!

Post Script: Thank you to my friend Leah for some inspiration. Check out her movie review blog at http://lonelysummeralone.tumblr.com (she also takes suggestions).
